- FAQ
If your question is not answered here, the fastest way to a real answer is a 20-minute intake call. We answer every question directly, including the ones with awkward answers.
Typical end-to-end timeline is 8–12 weeks from kickoff to license, depending on NJ MVC review pace. We submit complete and follow up directly, so files do not stall in the state's queue. State-controlled review itself runs 14–28 days when the package is complete the first time.
We give a full breakdown one-on-one once we understand your situation. Pricing varies because every applicant has different bond, insurance, and optional-service needs. The $500 waitlist deposit is the only public number. The rest of the conversation happens on a call.
Sometimes. NJ MVC has specific zoning and signage requirements. If your space already meets them, you may not need ADMS's facility at all. The first call is where we figure that out - honestly. Most independent applicants who try this find their space falls short on one or two compliance items.
No. You need a registered NJ business and a compliant NJ business address. ADMS provides both. Out-of-state operators expanding into New Jersey are a meaningful share of our applicants.
Both required by the state. We refer vetted partners for the bond and garage liability insurance and verify placement before MVC submission. The premiums are billed by those providers, not by ADMS. We do not earn commissions on the referrals.
The website is English and Spanish. Our chat assistant supports English, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, and French. The application paperwork itself is filed in English - that is a NJ MVC requirement, not ours.
NJ MVC rejections are rare for files we submit because we screen for the common rejection reasons before sending. If a rejection happens despite that, we revise and resubmit at no extra ADMS charge. State application fees may need to be paid again - that is the state's rule, not ours.
A license is tied to the licensed address. If you move, you file an address change with NJ MVC and the new location must pass the same compliance checks (zoning, signage, certificate of occupancy). ADMS dealers can keep operating from our New Jersey facility for as long as they want; some have for decades.
Dealer plates renew on a NJ MVC schedule. We track renewal dates and remind dealers in advance. The renewal itself is filed with NJ MVC; we walk you through the form when it is time.
Yes, NJ-licensed used car dealers can sell to buyers in other states. Title and registration in the buyer's state is the buyer's responsibility. There are some restrictions on selling commercial vehicles or to out-of-state dealers - we cover those on a call.
A NJ used car dealer license covers most light-duty vehicles. Heavy commercial or specialty categories may need a different or additional license. If commercial vehicles are part of your plan, mention it on the first call so we can scope correctly.
Franchise dealers sell new vehicles under a manufacturer agreement (Ford, Toyota, etc.). Independent dealers sell used vehicles without a manufacturer agreement. ADMS exclusively serves independent used car dealers. If you want a new-car franchise, you need a different process - we are happy to point you in the right direction on a call.
